Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Kebbi State, Alhaji Hussaini Zango Kangiwa, is set to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Chairman of the APC in the State, Barrister Mohammed Maccido, Sunday, led a strong delegation made up of the State excecutive members, governorship, National Assembly and House of Assembly aspirants went to Kangiwa at his Kangiwa home in Arewa Local Government Area of the state. Kangiwa, in September, donated N2million to the organisers of the support group canvassing for the Senate aspiration of Governor Usman Sa’idu Dakingari. The donation was made in Kangiwa to mobilise the people of Arewa and to ensure the victory of Dakingari as a senator. Daily Trust gathered that Kangiwa fell apart with the governor when the governor failed to fulfil the promise made to him after the death of his twin brother, Hassan Zango Kangiwa, to support his bid for vie for the PDP House of Representatives ticket. Leader of the delegation and state chairman of the APC solicited for his cooperation to join the APC and contest for the House of Representatives for Arewa/Dandi federal constituency. Maccido stated: “If the PDP refused to give you the ticket, our party the APC is ready to welcome you because our party advocates for change and our mission and vision is to work for the masses by bringing about unity and meaningful development across the country.” In his response, Kangiwa expressed appreciation for the visit and promised the delegation that he will make consultations with his people at the grassroots and his political associates to decide whether to join the APC or not. When contacted later by our correspondent, he did not make any categorical statement, asking: “Will you stay in the same party with your enemy? What do you expect me to tell my people when I go for campaign in the PDP, that the governor is a person who keeps his promise? Sources say the governor has directed that the commissioner of education, Abdulmumin Samaila Kamba, should resign and pick the State House of Assembly ticket of the PDP , while Kangiwa should take over as commissioner. But while the commissioner has complied and has since picked the form for the state Assembly, Kangiwa has rejected the offer of commissioner of education and opted to contest election for the House of Representatives. PDP state Secretary Ibrahim Arzika Bui, when contacted on phone, declined to make any comment on the matter. “I will not say anything about this issue,” he said and hung his sphone.
